Nobody says that you have to only play that option, but some of us would like to transfer our hard earned 40+ characters over and experience the remastered versions without having to put another 200 plus hours into each game. Having the option to transfer characters would be nice for those who would like to do so.

Verify game cache and see if it will unlock on steam. If you really want to start fresh, you have to find and delete default.pro (this file contains your achievements and challenges). Deleting this file will reset everything. Be sure to turn off steam cloud so it does not restore the deleted file.
