E36 would definitely be the better daily. If youre a beginner tho id get something dort cheap to fix and mod like a miata/civic. So you dont damage a car you really care about while learning. I’ve got a 280Z. I’ve built it, and I’ve touged it. Get a Fit, Civic, CRZ, Miata, Mazda2, or 86 twin. 131 posts · Joined 2012. #1 · Feb 28, 2013. So I have an E36 325i, and I am going to be building a track car and I was wondering how much better an m3 would be. I am going to replace almost all if not all the suspension components, but the engine in the m3 is a lot more upgrade able. Them again, I could supercharge the 325, but then I have to
The E36 was and is a hell of a car though. First of the (semi) modern 3 series and won car of the year constantly. They spent the better part of a decade designing it and then sold it for another decade.

The BMW 325i is a pretty sick car to have for your first car. My parents and everyone I work with are all jealous of my BMW. My BMW 325i costed me about 4 grand and for that price I got a great car. I've had both an e36 m3 and e46 m3. The e36 probably handles better and has a torquier motor, but the e46 is overall a lot more fun thanks to the high revving, more powerful motor. If we're talking about euro spec cars, this might change, but I've never driven a euro spec e36. I will say the E36 would make the better daily driver of the two.

The brand new M3 and M4 are nearly 500hp and turbo, and would be a good "beginner project car" since you could learn to fix stuff as they age and begin to need maintenance.
